It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Franklin Rice of Mount Vernon, Illinois, born in Benton, Illinois, who passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Rice and Mary Jessie Rice (Bell). He is survived by: his daughters, Janel Mathus (Dale) of Mount Vernon and Jennifer Rice of Mount Vernon; his grandchildren, Alex Rice of Mount Vernon, Lauren Smith (Grant) of Mount Vernon and Everett Mathus of Mount Vernon; his great grandchild Jaelynn Rice of Mount Vernon; and his brother Mike Rice of Benton.
Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or to Illinois Elks Children Care Corp.
