He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Michael Birdsong and Wilma Rosetta Birdsong (Lindsey); and his sister Lenetta King. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Birdsong; his children, William Brad Thurman (Krystal) of Salem, Christopher James Birdsong of Jiaxing, Dustin Michael Birdsong (Annie) of Mt. Vernon and Lindsay Roberts (Ben) of Roanoke, Virginia; his grandchildren, Wade, Gracie (Emily Garrison), Breanna (Allison Thurman), Jada Roberts and Adalynn Roberts; and his brother John Birdsong (Cheryl) of Granite City.
