It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Hassakis (Mount Vernon, Illinois), born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on March 10, 2019, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She is survived by: her son Mark D.; her daughter-in-law Janet S. of Mt. Vernon, IL; her daughter Marybeth Bolerjack; her son-in-law Thomas D. (Tom) of Austin, TX; her granddaughter Hallie Alexis Hassakis (Larry R. Henderson) of Washington; her sister Mary C. Mastorakos; her nephew William L. Mastorakos (Bill) of St. Louis, MO; her stepgranddaughter Christine E. Bolerjack; her stepgreat-grandsons, Jay of Mt. Vernon and Lucus Webb of Mt. Vernon; her nieces, Greta Hassakis of Seattle, WA and Linda Hassakis of San Diego, CA; her sister-in-law Patricia Hassakis of Santa Monica, CA; her great-nephew Parker; and her great-nieces, Hannah and Paige Mastorakos of St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M. Denny Hassakis Fund through Illinois Bar Foundation for at risk youth and juvenile justice throughout Southern Illinois and State Wide or to the Jefferson County Historical Village.
