It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elsie Gockel of Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on January 21, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Elsie Gockel to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dallas Mays and Naomi Mays (Miller); her husband John R. Gockel; her stepsons, Bob Gockel, Rick Gockel and Terry Lee Gockel; her sister Lola Powell (Orlis Tindle); and her grandson John Robert Gockel.
She is survived by: her son Randy Lowery of West Frankfort, Illinois; her grandchildren, Katherine Gockel, Joseph Paul Gockel, Eric Gockel, Ashley Gockel, Andria Clarke, Tyler Lowery, Whitney Walker and Caitlyn Lowery; her great grandchildren, Hannah, Christian, Lydia Gockel, Alyson Craig, Ian Bonner, Justine Mize, Brennon, Wrenley Walker and Sawyer Clarke; and her siblings, Allen Sanders (Paula), Donald Sanders (Debbie), Ronald Sanders (Kathy), Paul Sanders, Francis Curtis and Georgia Hopkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
