She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Somers and Naomi Somers (Majors); her children, Phillip and Terri Angermeier; and her siblings, Virgil Somers, Alice Searcy and Frances Duncan.

She is survived by: her husband James H. Hassell; her children, Richard Hassell (Jeanne) of Mt. Vernon and Deborah Smith (Mike) of Ft. Mitchell, AL; her son-in-law Francis Angermeier; and her grandchildren, Angel Craig (Kelly), Jonathan Lacer (Megan), Holly Newman (Eric), Eric Angermeier (Anya), Lauren Sprunk (Nick), Jennifer Hassell-Goodson (Jonathan), Keith Hassell, John Smith and Harold Smith. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.
