She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert L. Walker and T. Lucille Walker (Evans); her husband Don H. Shafer; and her sister Pauline Shepherd. She is survived by: her children, Dennis Shafer of Bluford, Charles Shafer (Teena) of Centralia, Robert Shafer (Tina) of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Cynthia Bedar of Mount Vernon, Illinois; her grandchildren, Britt Eagan (Jeff), Nicholas Shafer (Randy), Michael Shafer (Whitney), Dominic Shafer (Bailey), Adam Shafer, Tino Shafer and Dawn Bedar; and her great grandchildren, Nicole Shafer, Addison Bedar, Tucker Brown, Roman Shafer, Mila Shafer, Lola Shafer and Regin Shafer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hughey Funeral Home (1314 Main St, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Dorothy's honor to Central Christian Church.
