He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferral W. Ellis and Evelyn Juanita Ellis (Carter); his brother Leon Ellis; his nephew Tony Ellis; and his nephew-in-law Steve Blankenship.
He is survived by: his sisters, Lula Mae Morris of Mt. Vernon, Lois Fay Tate (David) of Mt. Vernon and Dorothy Lomax of Mt. Vernon; his sister-in-law Carolyn Ellis; his nieces and nephews, Pam Hammond, Brian Ellis, David Morris (Debra), Connie Knowles (Terry), Crysti Blacklock (Rob), Allen Tate (Michelle), Joanie Cooper (Alan), Stephanie Tate and Kenneth Pennington; and his close friend Bert Austin.
