He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Ray and Mary Busen Ray; his wife Joyce McCoy Ray; his sister Joan O'Connor (Donald); his parents-in-law, George A. and Virginia Lappin McCoy; and his brother-in-law John McCoy.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Radel (Ted) of Quincy and Andy Ray (Suzanne) of Mt. Sterling; his grandson Joseph Radel; his siblings, Flo Wort (Larry) of Springfield, Jim Ray (Rosanne) of Mt. Sterling and Dan Ray (Nancy) of Springfield, Illinois.; his brother-in-law Richard McCoy (Laurie) of Jacksonville, Illinois.; his nieces, Susan Ray of Mt. Sterling and Cathy O'Connor of Mt. Sterling; and his cousin Sandi McCaskill (Gary) of Timewell, Illinois..
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials may be made to the Hersman Cemetery, Holy Family Catholic Church, or Brown County Little League.
