Mary left this world on December 14, 2024 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Though Mary may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Mary touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Reed and Helen Reed; and her brother Robert Reed. She is survived by: her children, Thomas (Mary) and Suzanne; and her former husband Thomas Sr.. She is also survived by her five grandchildren.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of a very good friend, from our early school years through all the wonderful Ya-Ya gatherings we enjoyed together. Mary graciously hosted my visits in Arlington Heights and was a delightful fun companion on our sightseeing trip to New York City. . so much laughter, great food and special musical performances. Mary was always lovely, caring, witty, strong and proud. My sincere condolences to her family. RIP dear Mary Janet Simpson Ruff”
