With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lonnie L. Hughes (Mount Prospect, Illinois), born in Sterling, Illinois, who passed away on December 30, 2024 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Lonnie departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Lonnie. Though Lonnie may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Kallas; and his nephew Tommy McGovern. He is survived by: his wife Karen (Stetson); his daughter Shelley Wyka; his grandson Cooper Wyka; and his sisters, Renae McGovern, Gwen Pallone and Tammy Zuba. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Angels Grace Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
