He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmitt and Geneva Schmitt (Ziliak); his sons, Larry Gene Schmitt and Michael R. Schmitt; and his brothers, Thomas, Fred, Kenny, Paul and Marvin Schmitt.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Schmitt (Vickie) and Pamela Jerrell (Clark); his stepchildren, Billy, Mike Peach and Renee Pearson; his grandchildren, Christy Satava (Jason), Michael Schmitt (LeAnne Burns), Clark Jerrell III (Amanda) and Shaun Jerrell (Crystal); and his sisters, Rose Vincent (Dave) and Mary Winiger. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
