He is survived by: his spouse DeLores Zulz; his children, Greg O'Connell (Judy), Sue Mroz (Paul) of Peoria, Julie Bishop of Jupiter and Michael O'Connell (Wiesia Mancewicz) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Christina Burmester (Brian) of Renton, Brittany Barnett (Brian) of Fishers and Zachary Bishop of Jupiter, Fla.; his great grandchildren, Blake, Kate Barnett, Andi and Austin Burmester; and his brother Jack O'Connell of Eureka.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care, St. Jude Runs or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
