It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Smith of Morton, Illinois, who passed away on October 6, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Mathis and Clara Mathis (Bartelmay); her husband James S. Smith; her son James Scott Smith; and her sister Lila Kaufmann.

She is survived by: her son Timothy Smith (Becky) of Morton; her grandchildren, Sarah Smith of East Peoria, Laura Benn (Geoffrey) of Sacramento, Calif and Timothy Smith (Haley) of Seattle, Wash.; and her great grandchild Beckett Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners Association or the Morton CUSD 709 Foundation Fund at https: //mortoncommunityfoundation.org/morton-cusd-709-foundation, Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
