Merlin Birky Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Merlin Birky of Morton, Illinois, who passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Birky and Gertrude Birky (Eisele); his siblings, Robert Birky and Margaret Cade; and his siblings-in-law, Maxine Birky, Ken Gerig and Cade.
He is survived by: his wife LaRelda Birky of Morton; his stepchildren, Marla Graff (Nick) of Morton and Dana E. Arnett (Stephanie) of Chicago; his stepgrandchildren, Justin Grimm, Keri Eberle (Aaron) and Alma Arnett; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Rhys and Eli Eberle; his sister Florence Gerig of Morton; his nieces, Sally Erdel (Tim) of Mishawaka and Ind (Lois Birky); his great-nieces, Sarah Beth Getz (Matt) and Rachel Martens (Peter); and his great-nephew Matthew Erdel (Megan Hoewisch). He is also survived by two great-grand-nephews; and one great-grand-niece.
Social distancing guidelines will be observed during the visitation and funeral service and masks are required.
Memorials may be made to the Groveland Missionary Church, Morton United Methodist Church, or Morton Public Library.
