He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank G. Hertenstein and Lela Hertenstein (Staley); his wife Rita Ann Fultz, RN; his son Robert Donald Hertenstein, Jr.; and his brothers, Waren S. Hertenstein and Wilbur L. Hertenstein.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Audrey Hertenstein Perez of Chicago and Ill (Gustav Hertenstein). He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church.
