He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Kurz and Elsie M. Kurz (Hecht); his former wife Jerry Ann; his brother Louvaine Kurz (Judy); and his siblings-in-law, Marie Kurz and Wayne Leake.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Fischer; his children, Andrew Kurz of Peoria, Anthony Kurz of Peoria, Carol Kalkwarf (Nathan) of O'Fallon and Darren Fischer (Lori) of Normal, Ill.; his grandsons, Bryan Kalkwarf (Madie) of Springfield and Jeremy Fischer of Normal; and his siblings, Wayne Kurz of Vandalia, Jo Ann Kaden (Wayne) of Palmyra and Helen Leake of Harrisonville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran School in Morton or the American Cancer Society.
