We are sad to announce that on July 8, 2021, at the age of 88, Esther Hackney of Morton, Illinois, born in Rankin, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Walter Newell and Della Mae Newell (Smizer); her husband Warren Hackney; her son Danny Hackney; her grandson Jacob Smith; and her children, Rick Hackney (Karin) of San Jose, Ill, David Hackney (Sue) of Deer Creek, James Hackney (Sally) of Deer Creek, Cheryl Dillman (Leonard) of Morton, Dale Hackney (Tracey Karnes) of South Pekin and Sharon Cox (Jerry) of Pekin. She was also cherished by 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

“Dear Hackney Family, I am very sorry for your loss. I loved Esther. She made me feel like I was a part of your family way before I married Rick. I always received a warm welcome in her home. She always asked me about my children, Brett, Caitlin and Colleen. A couple of days before she passed I showed her pictures of them and we talked about them. I love that I had the opportunity to do that. She asked how I was doing taking care of my yard and house. Rest in Peace, Grandma. Karin Hackney”
