He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert A. Boelkins and Grace Boelkins (Van Zuiden); and his brother Randall Boelkins. He is survived by: his wife Diane K. Peugh; his children, Jessica White (Jim) of Morrison, IL and Nathan Boelkins (Julie) of Solon, IA; his grandchildren, Carson, Kinley White, Jaxon and Anabelle Boelkins; his sister Judy Leech (Doug) of Morrison, IL; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Boelkins of Arizona and Linda Webb of Sterling, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.
