She was predeceased by: her parents, Rennie J. Buikema and Lodina Buikema (Medema); her former husband Bernard; her stepson Timothy Kophamer; her sister Marjorie VenHuizen; and her nephew Rick VenHuizen.
She is survived by: her husband Jim; her stepchildren, Kathryn Hubbard (Dan) of Lone Tree, CO, Joan Wear (Tom) of Melbourne, FL, Amy Robbins (Joe) of Morrison, IL and Rev. Mark Kophamer (Sharon) of Briston, TN; her stepdaughter-in-law Cathy Kophamer of Morrison, IL; and her brother Ron Buikema of Morrison, IL.. She is also survived by seventeen step-grandchildren; thirty-four step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to St. John's Lutheran Church, Ebenezer Reformed Church and Community Hospice.
