He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Johnson and Vietta Johnson (Long); his son William J. Johnson; and his brother Dennis Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Angela Wood (Michael Riolla) of Morris, Nichole Lacey (Chuck) of Morris and James Johnson of Warsaw, Missouri; his grandchildren, Chance, Savannah, Jordyn and Carter; and his sisters, Linda Johnson of Joliet and Lisa Johnson of Joliet.
