He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Matteson and Mabel Matteson (Roberts). He is survived by: his siblings, Robert Matteson of Morris and Joyce Christianson of Dwight; his close friend Ruth Ann Matteson; his daughters, Lori Matteson of Morris, Leigh Ann Matteson of Elgin and Kristy Glerup (Robert) of Toledo Ohio; and his grandchildren, Derek Matteson (Mica), Megan Matteson, Nathan Glasper (Amanda), Ashley Glasper (Dwayne), Zachary Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Kaitlin Glasper, Bryce Johnson and Kyleigh Johnson. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
