He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Erwin and Jessie Erwin; his brothers, Bernard Erwin and Clifford Erwin (Sarah); and his brother-in-law Raymond Pelton.
He is survived by: his wife Joan K. Erwin of Diamond; his children, Paula Webb (Kevin) of Wilmington, Neal C. Erwin of Wilmington and Michael E. Erwin of Joliet; his grandchildren, Colin D. Webb (Ashley) of Plainfield and Emily K. Harrington (Mike) of Omaha, Nebraska; his great grandchild Spencer D. Webb of Plainfield; his sister Pauline Pelton of Wilmington; and his sister-in-law Joanne Erwin of Gibson City. He is also survived by numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews.
