He was predeceased by: his wife Lucie Thorsen (Gehrke-Hummel); his parents, Leo Thorsen and Ilene Thorsen; his granddaughter Ashley Thorsen; and his nephew Kurt Thorsen.

He is survived by: his son David Thorsen (Michelle); his stepchildren, Ed Hummel (Teresa), Cheryl and Denise Rohrer (Bob); his brother Robert Thorsen (Jane); his grandchildren, Taylor Fortin (Josh), Trey Thorsen, Tim Hummel (Alethia), Rob Hummel, Derek Hummel (Lauren), Christopher Ott (Amber), Megan Pack (Levi), Brandon Rohrer (Hanna) and Mallory Munger (Jonathon); his nephew Bill Stapleton; and his niece Heather Thorsen (Josh Gruettner).
