He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosie Lee Chronister (Garrett) and Calvin Brewer; his grandparents, Thomas, Etta Garrett, Robert and Emma Chronister; and his siblings, Thomas Leedell Chronister, Mary Morris and Demetra Sue Howe (Lynn) of Morris, IL..

He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his children, Kassie of Minooka, Karl (Michele) of Summerville, SC, Renae of Morris, James II (Dawn Brandt-Krause) of Minooka and Tracy (Michelle) of Morris; and his grandchildren, Justin Chronister, Chelsea Richard (Austin), John Hartley of Minooka, Jake Chronister (Caitlyn Kruger), Skyler Pelham (Lane), Tori Marchetti (Joe) of Joliet, Alex Ator of Morris, Daniel Chronister (Val) of Marseilles, Emily Chronister of Morris and Michael Callabrese (Kate). He is also survived by 13 Great-Grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home (301 W Washington St, Morris, IL 60450). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials can be made in Jim's name to the VFW Post 6049 Auxillary.
