He was predeceased by: his parents, Alberta D. Metzen (Hageman) and Harold D. Metzen; and his brother Charlie Metzen. He is survived by: his wife Ann L. Metzen (Grommon); and his daughter Anita Metzen. He is also survived by uncle and great-uncle to his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to any organization supporting Veterans would be appreciated.
