He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Helland and Helen Helland (Johnson); his brother Joseph Helland; and his siblings-in-law, Harold, Orrin, Norman, Ralph Toftoy, Lois Helland, Marian, Mary Jane, Darlene and Joan Toftoy.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Helland; his children, Rhonda Duttlinger (Alan) and Rolf Helland (Lori); his granddaughters, Erica Rath (Steven), Samantha and Lexi Helland; his great grandchildren, Hailey and Emmett; his brother Alvin Helland; his siblings-in-law, Clarence Toftoy, Jeanne Toftoy and Jan Helland; his stepgrandchildren, Angela Girard, Jason Duttlinger and Nathan Duttlinger; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler, Isaac, Grace, Nathan and Sam; and his friends, Brent, Zoe Price, Tom and Polly Cutler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to Stavanger Lutheran Church or the charity of the donors choice.
