He was predeceased by: his parents, William P. Ludwig, and Beverly M. Ludwig, Sr. (Vollintine); and his brothers, John Ludwig and James Ludwig. He is survived by: his girlfriend Norma J. Carroll; his son Matthew Ludwig (Tori) of Cottage Hills; his stepdaughter Julia Ducey of Moro; his brother Bill Ludwig (Shelia) of Columbia, IL; his sister-in-law Betty Ann Ludwig of Tuscola, IL; his granddaughter Sophie; and his close friends, Joe Ludwig, Michael Ludwig, Bill Kaspareck, John Edler and Jeff Parker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
