He was predeceased by: his father Henry Wendt; his brother Kenny Wendt; his niece Jodi Wear; his nephew Troy Hendrix; and his parents-in-law, John Barbara, Ted Dhom, James, Vera Kroeger, Donald and Mardel Buenker.
He is survived by: his mother Virginia Wendt (Loy); his wife Rita Wendt of Montrose; his children, Jeanette Koester (Kent) of Teutopolis, Stacey Hemmen (Rick) of Lillyville and Eric Wendt (Jody) of Lillyville; his grandchildren, Kenna, Mitch, Megan, Cody, Carly and Paisley; and his siblings, Linda Dhom, Larry Wendt (Karen), Janice Wear (Jack), Peggy Robertson (Mike), Becky Heuerman (Tim), Don Wendt (Kristy), Karl Wendt (Jackie), Jackie Strohl (Kurt) and Steve Wendt (Anita). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to Shriner's Hospital and Carle Auxiliary Guest House in Champaign.
