He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Mahaffey and Luetta Mahaffey (Baker); and his brothers, Archie, Herschel, Gerald, Otis and Roy.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Mahaffey of Montrose; his children, Robert Mahaffey (Patsy) of Altamont and Gail Smith (Doug) of Teutopolis; his grandchildren, Joshua Mahaffey of Denver, CO and Molly Smith of Teutopolis; and his stepgrandchildren, Chris Tedrick (Nikki) of Effingham, Brian Tedrick (Amy) of Altamont, Adam Tedrick (Jenna) of Altamont, Kelsey Mette (Caleb) of Effingham and Nikki Dust (Justin) of Effingham. He is also survived by 13 step-great-grandchildren.
