It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Joy Poling of Monticello, Illinois, born in Decatur, Illinois, who passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Russel J. Mowry and Ruth Taylor Mowry; her former husband Robert C. Zimmerman; her husband Philip Poling; and her sons, Brian Russel Zimmerman and Robert Alan Zimmerman.
She is survived by: her daughter Ruth Zimmerman Cobb; her sisters, Carmen Gilman (Richard) of Fredonia, NY, Mary Jane Hoveln (Pen Pendleton), Gifford and Ill; her close friends, Tony, Kellie Gualazzi, Lori and Steve Harper; her family Fred Finn; and also Monticello. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the food bank at Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello, Ill., the Carle Foundation Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, Urbana, Ill., or Tatman Village, Monticello, Ill. The family is grateful for the outstanding care Joy received at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, and from the staff at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care and the Transitions Hospice team.
