He was predeceased by: his parents, Theron and Theresa; his mother-in-law Gladys Smotzer; and his son Charles Hall. He is survived by: his wife Mary; and his children, John Kies, Ann Young (J. C. Cartee), Joe Kies (Sarah) and Nicholas Kies, Jr. (Jenny). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several in-laws and many other family and friends.
