He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Thompson and Gaylord Thompson; his wife Diane Thompson; his sister Barbara Ellefson; and his siblings-in-law, Cindy Thompson and Robert Ashley.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Mumma (Erin), Bettendorf, Nicole Mumma (Joshua Grage), Dustin Thompson, Elizabeth Hartsfield (Gregory), Viola and Alec Thompson; his grandchildren, Rylee, Brady, Kennedy Mumma, Avah Mumma, Shawna, Kurt Anderson, Makaila Craft, Brenner Thompson and Annalise Hartsfield; and his siblings, Marilee Ashley, Sterling, Thomas Thompson (Marcia), Rock Falls, Jeff Thompson of Coleta, IL and Steve Thompson (Norma) of Dixon, IL.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory (6601 38th Ave, Moline, IL 61265). A memorial service was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church East Moline (3801 7th St, East Moline, IL 61244).
Memorials may be made to cancer research and "KAIROS of Illinois" Prison Ministry.
