She was predeceased by: her parents, Kurt Michel and Erna Michel; and her siblings, Gerhard, Werner and Ursula "Mickey" Carstensen.
She is survived by: her children, Noman B. Schmeltzer III (Jane), Christine Johnson (Bryce) and Kurt Schmeltzer (Roselyn); her godson John Schmeltzer; and her grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Tessa, McKenna, Michael and Max. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, including her nephew.
