He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Tipsword and Vera Tipsword (May); his son Neal; and his brother Dennis. He is survived by: his wife Sara Tomlinson; his children, Mark Tipsword (Cherie) of Plano, TX, Angela Evans of The Colony, TX, Stephen Tipsword (Kimberly) of Moline, IL and Candice Hatter of Frisco, TX; his siblings, Brenda Miller (Ed) of Rockford, IL and Terry Tipsword of Silvis, IL; and his grandchildren, Bradley, Chad, Melissa, Merry, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Rachel. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
