He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Janet O'Leary (Dreyer); his son Michael O'Leary; and his siblings, Timothy O'Leary, Eilleen Dreyer (late James) and Daniel O'Leary (late Judy).

He is survived by: his children, Mary Kay Springman (Lonnie) and John O'Leary; his brother Bob O'Leary (Margaret); and his grandchildren, Margaret, Emily, Bryan, Jackson and Daniel.
