He was predeceased by: his parents, Dick Slifer and Mildred Slifer (Smith); his son Jacob Shannon Slifer; his siblings, Ralph Slifer, Russell Slifer, Max Slifer and Sue Matheny; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Slifer, Pat Slifer, Jane Slifer, Ralph Miller and Don Matheny.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Slifer (Cox); his daughter Lydia Funneman (Clarence Jr) of Effingham, IL; his granddaughters, Megan, Allison and Kaitlyn Funneman; his siblings, Lila Miller of Monticello, IL, Jim Slifer of Beecher City, IL, Richard Slifer of Stewardson, IL, Paul Slifer (Mary) of Beecher City, IL, Wayne Slifer of Mode, IL and Nancy Mulcahy (Jim) of Taylorville, IL; and his sisters-in-law, Bessie Slifer of Taylorville, IL and Nancy Slifer of Shelbyville, IL..
