He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Thurmond and Susie Golden Thurmond. He is survived by: his sons, Richard Thurmond (Sue) of Hoover, AL and Joe Thurmond (Jane) of Mackinaw; and his grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Haley, Shelby and Cameron. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Bill to; Minier Rescue Squad or Mackinaw Rescue Squad.
