He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Carlson and Bertha Carlson (Hand); and his grandson Brett Carlson. He is survived by: his wife Linda Carlson of Mineral; his children, Alicia Brown (David) of Mason City, IA, Michael Carlson (Jeannie) of Mineral and Melanie Stabler of Mineral; his grandchildren, Logan, Rachel Brown, Myla, James McCune, Jessie Witte (Hunter), Haley Eble, Alexa, Kylie, Oliver and Owen Stabler; his great grandchildren, Ellie Witte and Blakley Jackson; and his siblings, Mary DeVenney (Ron), Betty Gould, Larry Carlson (Pat), Kathy Thomas, Laurie McKinley (Arthur), Patricia Van Daele (Larry) and Penny Craine (Dean).

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in his name to the Mineral United Methodist Church or Mineral Gould Fire Department.
