He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Hanabarger and Mary Hanabarger (Weidel); his wife Patsy Rasmussen; his brother Max Hacker; and his great grandchild Angel Miller.

He is survived by: his children, Wendy Wiersema (Mike), Dale Hacker (Bernadette), Dawn Ryba (Dick), Diana Meier, Beth Habben (Dan), Thomas Hacker (Kathy), Jim Hacker (Barb Decker), Rick Hacker (Wendy), Nicole Sigel (Jeremy) and Kyle Hacker (Mandy); and his siblings, Lois Rowzee (Shelby) and Larry Hacker (Nelda). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren.
