He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Barnes and Violet Barnes (Kuchan); and his sister Janice Ketron. He is survived by: his wife Linda Barnes; his daughter Mary Goumas (Matthew); and his granddaughters, Madelyn and Megan.

A rosary was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory - Rock Island (3030 7th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201). Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 11:30 AM at the St Pius X Catholic Church (2502 29th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201).
