He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlie Ashford and Charlotte Ashford; his stepdaughter Karla Kay Sawyers; and his grandson Jeremy Newberry. He is survived by: his wife Velma Ashford (Lowry); his daughter Kathy Steele (John); and his grandchildren, Misty York (Doug), Amanda Steele, Michael Englehart, Monte Englehart and Keri Johnson (Quintin "Matt"). He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
