Lela C. Matthews Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lela C. Matthews of Metropolis, Illinois, who passed away on August 18, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Edward Clark and Mamie Pearl Patrick (White); her husband Robert Nelson Matthews, Sr.; her son Ronald Edward Matthews; and her siblings, Langston Leroy Clark, Harlin Edward Clark and Elaine Fortenberry.
She is survived by: her sons, Robert N. Matthews, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Matthews (Sara Jamison); her granddaughter Jessica Lynn Matthews; her great grandchild R. J. Bachelder; and her sister Audrey Lee Hammett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
