She was predeceased by: her husbands, Mettis W. "Slim" Gray and Charles N. "Bud" Choate; her daughter Lois Carter; her stepchildren, Gary Gray and Donna Choate; her daughter-in-law Laura Hay Carter; her grandson Darin Gray; and her siblings, Clarence Jones, Cecil Jones, Blanche Watson, Charlie Jones, William "Bill" Jones, Mary Hughes, George Jones and James Jones.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Matthew Choate of Peoria, IL, Jerry Carter (Jeannene) of Ocala, FL and Joy Gray (Kevin Brey) of Goffstown, NH; her daughter-in-law Sherry Gray of Metropolis; her grandchildren, Bubba Carter (Jaimie), Skip Carter (Kim) of Jonesboro, AR, Josh Carter (Maryanne) of Hernando, MS, Heather Deckard (Drew) of Metropolis and Sydney Brey of Los Angeles, CA; her great grandchildren, Larson Carter, Lauren Carter, Kaleb Brown (Keely), Kagen Brown (Brittany), Morrison Carter, Karis Carter, Addison Burkhead (Marshall), Makenzie Gray, Sadie Gray, Graycee Deckard and Daniel Deckard; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Jones and Betty Gale. She is also survived by 4 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Joyce's name to the Dementia Society or the American Heart Association.
