He was predeceased by: his parents, Kestner Austin and Bertha Austin; his wife Barbara Ragsdale (Barb); his siblings, Clara, Helen, Roberta, Herbert and Robert; his granddaughter Ashley Witherspoon; his niece Sydney Davis; and his brother-in-law Richard Edwards.
He is survived by: his sons, Jon Cary Austin and Charles Gregory Austin (MaryJo); his grandson Cameron Blake Austin (Lindsay); and his great grandchildren, Cameron, Crayson and Banks. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given in Charlie's name to a Dementia/Alzheimer's-related charity of your choosing.
