Joan E. DeFord Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan E. DeFord of Metamora, Illinois, born in Peoria, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 6, 2024 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Elbert and Gertrude Elbert (Eichorn); her husband Willie of Mary's Catholic Church; and her daughter Penny. She is survived by: her children, Laurie Mirus (Jeff Vittoe) of Hampshire and Russ DeFord (Becky) of Germantown Hills; her grandchildren, Courtney Earley (Tyler) of Morton, Wren Goff (Rachael Rowe) of Eureka, Montana Mirus (Ryan Allen) of Hampshire and Natalie DeFord of Germantown Hills; her siblings, Doris Forney (late Melvin) of Metamora, Allen Elbert (Sarah) of Sulligent, AL and Lynn (late Sharon) of Metamora; and also Bob Emory of Bushnell. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's School, 400 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 where Joan, her siblings, and all her children graduated.
