He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pelz and Amelia Pelz (Tjaden); his wife Melva; his daughters, LeeAnn Marie and Krystal Kay; his siblings, Morris Pelz (Irene), Paul Pelz (Doris), Eleanor Hess (Elmer), Mary Meister (Harold) and Lorene Leman (Loren); and his siblings-in-law, Harold Meister, Merle Ahlrichs, Richard Anderson, Eldon Freese, Elmer Hess and Irene Pelz.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Pelz (Trisha) of Placentia, Calif, Robin Pelz of Fort Dodge, Nikki Nieland (Craig) of Manson, Paula Murray (James) of Pocahontas, Joseph Pelz (Janelle) of Manson and Renee Robertson (Edward) of Gowrie, Iowa; and his siblings, LaVerne Pelz (Margie) of Manson, Ruth Freese (Elden) of Manson, Shirley Ahlrichs (Merle) of Storden, Bette Van Gundy (Jim) of Clive, Verna Grant (Bill) of Rockwell City and Janet Anderson (Richard) of Rockwell City, Iowa.. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
