He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Gerdes and Ora Marie Roberts Gerdes; and his stepparents, Harvey "Dutch" Brockhouse and Bernadine Gerdes. He is survived by: his brother Raymond Gerdes of Canyon Like, TX; his stepsiblings, Cindy Helmich of Jacksonville, Peggy Lister of Springfield, Eric Brockhouse of Jacksonville and Steve Bradshaw of Quincy; and his friends, Jim and Kim Surratt of Meredosia.
