He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gerecke and Wilhelmina Schumann Gerecke; his wife Margaret June Oettle; his son Richard Wayne "Dick" Gerecke; his daughter-in-law LeAnna Nocita-Lyons Gerecke; his grandson Logan Jared Gerecke; and his siblings, Irene Rodgers, Eva Rosa, Roy Gerecke, Helen Oettle and Marvin "Bud" Gerecke.
He is survived by: his sons, Harry Gerecke Jr. of Vashon, WA, John Gerecke (Sharon) of Meredosia and Steven Gerecke (Kathy) of Liberty; his grandchildren, Travis Gerecke of Meredosia, Adam Gerecke (Samantha Chapman) of Jacksonville, Rebecca Gerecke (Grant Wilson), Brianne Sealock (Matt) of Pittsfield, Andrew Gerecke (Katie Zeeck) of Camp Point, Rachel Gerecke of Pittsfield, John Devlin of Jacksonville and Lori Devlin of Jacksonville; and his brother Norman Gerecke of Quincy. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
