He was predeceased by: his parents, Nels Lilja and Olive Lilja (Oaks); his siblings, Marge Desch, Esther Underberg, Theodore Lilja, Larrie Lilja and Lettie Larter; and his daughter Becky McPheeters (Kevin) of Mendota.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Goubeaux of Mendota, IL; his son David Lilja (Susan); his grandchildren, Ashley Pawlowski (Eric) of Mendota, Brandon Smith of Nashville, TN, Erica Ince of Mendota, Jessica Hagerty (Patrick) of Yorkville, IL, Zachary Lilja of Mendota, IL, Emily Bowne (Grant) of Mendota, Grant Bodmer of LaSalle, IL and Alysa Guerrero (Jacob) of Mendota; and his great grandchildren, Camden, Brooks, Everly Pawlowski, Lettie Ince, Jack, James Hagerty, Charlie Bowne, Joseph and Theodore Guerrero.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home (800 Monroe St, Mendota, IL 61342). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (398 Church Rd, Compton, IL 61318).
