He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Politsch and Ruth Politsch (Hurst); his wife Carolyn (Taylor); his brothers, Bill and Bob Politsch; and his daughter Pamela.
He is survived by: his children, Randy Politsch (Jane) of Mendota and Peggy Vance (Mike) of Bettendorf, IA; his grandchildren, Reid Politsch (Emily), Kacey Chezum (Michael), Megan Vance, Jarrah Stephens (Spencer) and Logan Vance (Paige); his great grandchildren, Colette, Collins Chezum, Jack, Jett, Stella Stephens and Eloise Vance; and his daughter Michele Meyer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home (800 Monroe St, Mendota, IL 61342). A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 1:15 PM at the Restland Cemetery (1200 22nd St, Mendota, IL 61342). A reception will be held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mendota Golf Club (35666 Walter Payton Memorial Hwy West, Mendota, IL 61342).
Contributions to the family will be used to establish a memorial in Gene's honor.
